I second this. Its great to hear that John is better. I was expecting the worst, especially with this horrible year of so much tragedy. While everyone else was mourning the death of Michael Jackson, I was sitting around praying and hoping that we would not soon be grieving another legend. Medeski will always be one of the most inspirational musicians to me, and I think he has so much music left and so many more inspired moments to share with all of us. I am thankful for his recovery. Its a privilege for us to be able to see MMW perform and we should cherish every moment.

I look forward to seeing him back in action on Friday night at the Lincoln center event with Aukyton!

I'd like to echo your thoughts completely. John Medeski seems to have so much to give, be it creating new grooves, performing live (and hard), or jamming with somebody new, that it would be devestating for me to see him go so soon. The passion he has astounds and inspires me. I hope he is able to continue doing what he does until he no longer wants to.

You might remember a while back that they had to cancel a bunch of shows in europe. I guess John had some kind of mysterious bacterial infection which was causing servere headaches and whatnot. It was just kind of a cliff hanger for me because even though I've never met these guys personally, they're still kind of part of the family to me. BTW, saw them in north adams mass thursday night. The first set was kind of wierd, maybe improv or new material. The second set smoked. It always makes me happy to see them play.
