"Petaluma Mystic" |
I think it's the first time I've ever walked out on a show. I waited for an hour to hear something that I could remotely call a groove. I've never seen a band so engaged in alienating it's audience. I own several albums by MMW and I knew there was a chance some of the show would be a little hard to relate to but this was intolerable.

I just listened to the recording of this show and I thought it was great. You missed out on a great bubblehouse. I'm not trying to say you're wrong for your impression of the performance. That's the thing about art, no two people will interpret it the same way. It's a shame that you don't like what they're doing, but that's where they are right now. Don't take it personally.

I was there. You don't know how to listen to them. They are not about the groove all the time, and they played Big Time the second set. I've seen some crappy MMW shows, and I am very critical of them because they are my favorite band, well besides Remember Shakti, which blows them and any other band out of the water and I consider them different and on another plane than Medeski, but the Petaluma Show was very good. Not much of an audience, but very intimate show. Read my post in the other section about they're interaction with the audience. You were probably in the wrong state of mind, bro.
